Alicia Tays is a licensed professional counselor that offers individual sessions to adults. This work includes empowering clients, developing sustainable self care and identifying strengths and resiliencies. This is also a safe place for self exploration. Alicia focuses on self compassion, nurturing sensitivity, and healthy boundaries. Therapeutic focus at Spoon & Stone includes depression, anxiety, trauma, domestic violence, stress and difficult life transitions, as well as related issues. Alicia takes a person centered, insight oriented, trauma informed and transpersonal approach to counseling. At times, she will suggest alternate ways of looking at problems, provide psychoeducation and teach healing exercises to clients, depending what the individual needs are.
Alicia also incorporates healthy boundaries and self care into her counseling, as these are two issues that we often overlook and that are very important for our mental well being. So often we become wrapped up in the stress of our lives, work and family that we neglect ourselves and our own needs. Self care can be different for everyone and Alicia helps clients to identify what those individual needs are. Developing self care can help us better manage stress, improve relationships and make choices about where we focus our energy instead of allowing life to choose for us. Part of healthy self care is healthy boundaries and having the ability to say no. Boundaries and self care are skills we are not necessarily taught so Alicia incorporates these topics into her sessions with clients, giving them the long term ability to maintain a healthy lifestyle and care for self.
